Several JN Group members, who are also residents of Portland, have expressed their excitement about the introduction of the new JN Circle in the parish.
JN Circle is a network of service clubs, which are designed to provide a platform for JN members and customers, to become change agents through advocacy, networking and community development.
The JN Circle initiative is being piloted in Surrey and is a revamped version of the JN Bank and JN Foundation’s Member Advisory Council (MAC).
Probation Aftercare Officer, Ryan Bailey, who attended the first JN Circle meeting held at JN Bank’s Port Antonio branch on Wednesday, August 28, stated that he was thrilled to be part of the club.
“I have spent much of my life, giving back to my community and country,” he related. “Voluntary service has always been my passion; therefore, the JN Circle is a perfect fit for me.”
Mr Bailey further noted that, “A club, such as the JN Circle, is certainly something that is needed right now in Portland; and I look forward to seeing some positive impact in and around the parish.”
He also pointed out that there are many issues affecting Portland, which he hopes the club will address through its various projects.
“We need to find ways to re-engage our young people, especially our males. There is also a need for infrastructural development, and we also have environmental as well as economic issues,” Mr Bailey affirmed.
Claudine Allen, member ombudsman, The Jamaica National Group, said, “The JN Circle presents an opportunity for JN members and employees to work together, to ‘do good,’ in their communities and contribute to building their country.”
She stressed that, “connecting people and communities and doing good,” was the objective of the JN Circle, which will provide an avenue through which members can be engaged in meaningful, sustainable partnerships with JN and their communities as the organisation works to unleash the potential of Jamaicans, wherever they reside.
